Performances of Indian dance and music troops in Ecuador have been regularly sponsored by the ICCR. A large number of cultural activities were organised in Ecuador as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of India’s independence. In September 2002, a 9-member ICCR sponsored Odissi dance and flute troupe performed in Ecuador. Coinciding with the dance performance, an Indian food festival was organised in Quito’s Hotel Hilton. In Sept 2004, India participated in the celebrations of the declaration of Quito as the Iberoamerican culture capital for the year 2004 with a presentation by a 12-member ICCR sponsored Bharatnatyam ballet dance group led by Smt Ananda Shankar.
There is immense amount of goodwill in Ecuador for India and its culture. There are a number of Yoga institutions, ashrams and meditation centres in various parts of Ecuador. There are also a few centres of Missionaries of Charity in Guayaquil, Ecuador. A fairly large number of Ecuadorian devotees of organisations like Hare Krishna, Satya Sai Baba, Brahma Kumaris, etc. visit India every year. A bust of Mahatma Gandhi donated by ICCR was installed in a prominent plaza renamed as ‘Plaza Republica de la India’ on 13 Oct 2003 followed by an Odissi dance recital by Smt Ranjana Gauhar.
In June 2007 was signed a cultural cooperation agreement between the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana "Benjamín Carrión" and Sahitya Akademi of India
