Renunciation of Indian Citizenship

Section 8 of the Citizenship Act, 1955 provides for declaration of Intention of renouncing Indian citizenship. Any citizen of India in Colombia/Ecuador/Costa Rica, who acquires foreign citizenship should immediately renounce his Indian citizenship by making a declaration of his intention to the Embassy of India, Bogotá in the prescribed form and immediately surrender his Indian Passport to the Embassy. It may be noted that Indian Laws do not permit dual citizenship.
