The innauguration of the Mahatma Gandhi's bust at the Museum of Memory at Bicentenario Park will take place on May 21 2013 at 5:00 pm. The cityhall of Medellín and the Embassy ofIndia have installed the bust, with the help of the Honorary Indian Consulate in Medellín. The bust was donated by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations ICCR and was brought directly from India.

The Embassy of India in Bogota, in collaboration with the Development Commissioner for Handicrafts, Government of India and the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) organized a cultural seminal in Bogota on 27 November, 2008 to present the latest developments in the handicrafts industry in India.
The event was addressed by the Ambassador of India, the Development Commissioner and the Executive Director of EPCH. India’s handicrafts and textiles are extremely popular in Colombia and gaining a better image as well as market in this country.

The Colombia-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry was launched on 26 September, 2008, by the Ambassador of India in the presence of over 70 representatives of Colombian and Indian business houses, apart from professionals, government officials and others.

A delegation of seven members of PLEXCONCIL (Plastics Export Promotion Council) of India in the course of a tour of Latin America visited Guayaquil, Ecuador, 14-16 September, 2008.
In collaboration with the Embassy of India, Bogota, the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce organized a seminar and a meeting with local Ecuadorian businessmen. There was tremendous response from businessmen in this commercial center of Ecuador. Several bilateral business meetings were held and the event was widely reported in the media.

Ambassador Shri Deepak Bhojwani visited Cucuta, Norte de Santander in eastern Colombia, 11-12 September, 2008.
During the visit Ambassador Bhojwani called on the Governor of the State Mr. William Villamizar Laguado, and along with his cabinet discussed wide ranging possibilities for economic, commercial, social and cultural collaboration.

Independence day celebrated by the Embassy
On 15 August 2008, the 61st Independence Day of India was celebrated by the Embassy at the residence of the Ambassador in the presence of about 40 Indians living in Bogotá.
The Ambassador addressed the Indians after hoisting the national flag noting the remarkable achievements of India made in the 61 years following its independence to be counted as one of the leading economies of the world in the present era. Light Indian refreshments were served as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

Indian Pharma (IPCA) in Colombia
One of the largest Indian pharmaceutical companies, IPCA Limited, launched its fully owned subsidiary in Colombia on 5 August, 2008.

India participates in Oil and Mineral Congress
India participated in a big way in the 4th International Congress on Mining and Petroleum at Cartagena, 2-4 July, 2008.
The Ambassador of India addressed the Congress. Other Indian speakers were Dr. C.S. Jain, Executive Director, ONGC Videsh Limited and Shri Srinivas Bette of Reliance Industries Limited.

Textile Delegation visits Colombia
A delegation organised by the Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council (Texprocil) of India, consisting of 6 companies engaged in export of cotton yarn and textile, visited Bogota 23-24 June, 2008.
The delegation comprised six companies – Lahoti Overseas Ltd., Loyal Textile Mills, Maral Overseas Ltd, Sundaram Textiles Ltd, Ginni Filaments, Nagreeka Exports Ltd – of high level manufacturers and exporters of cotton yarn textiles and related products.

International Food Festival in Bogota
The Embassy of India participated in the International Food Festival organized by the Diplomatic Spouses Association of Colombia at Hotel La Fontana in Bogotá on 17 May 2008. Proceeds of sale of food items were donated to charity.
About 25 countries having diplomatic representation in Colombia participated in the event. Spouses of the diplomats and officials of the Embassy of India in Bogotá prepared delicious Indian food in the form of Samosas, Meat Koftas, Parathas and Gulab Jamun that were highly appreciated by the visitors.
