The Colombia-India Chamber of  Commerce and Industry was launched on 26 September, 2008, by the Ambassador of India in the presence of over 70 representatives of Colombian and Indian business houses, apart from professionals, government officials and others.
The Colombia-India Chamber of Commerce have adopted a statute (text given below) and on this occasion appointed by acclamation Mr. Jaime Mantilla as the first Executive President and 9 members of the Board of Directors.
With economic and commercial ties between Colombia and India strengthening and bilateral trade crossing US$ 700 million in 2007, the need for such an institution has long been felt.  The presence of business houses from Bogota, Medellin and Cali, and the interest expressed by others, was evidence of the need for a Chamber.
As the two countries continues to strengthen their relations, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will serve as a focal point to discuss issue of importance to business and commercial relations.
