FESTIVAL OF INDIA IN COLOMBIA

A Festival of India to commemorate 50 years of bilateral relations between Colombia and India was launched on 2 December 2009 at a gala Reception at the Hotel Cosmos 100 in Bogota.
In her inaugural address, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Ms. Clemencia Forero, extolled the excellent condition of bilateral relations and the large number of events and activities that have taken place during the Golden Anniversary Year in India and in Colombia.  She also referred to the growing political understanding witnessed through high level visits between both countries.

Ambassador Deepak Bhojwani welcomed the guests and outlined the salient features of the Festival :- a culinary feast prepared by three Chefs sent by the Department of Tourism who would offer a variety of different dishes at lunch and dinner till 13 December in the Hotel; daily dance performances by the renowned dance troupe Natyalaya; decoration of the hotel premises with Indian handicrafts and images;  and continuous projection of Indian Cinema in the hotel premises.

The Reception was attended by over 200 Government dignitaries; businessmen, academics; Indian Community; media and friends of India etc.

Ambassador of India Shri Deepak Bhojwani and the Colombian vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Clemencia Forero addressed the audience during the inauguration of the Festival.
