The Electronic and Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) of India organized a visit to Colombia of a delegation of 12 leading software companies 9-10 November, 2009.
The Embassy of India, with the assistance of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Colombia, organized a seminar on 9 November which was addressed by the Vice Minister of Communications, Daniel Medina, who, referring to the MOU on Cooperation in Information Technology signed between India and Colombia in 2002, pointed out that there was tremendous complementarity in this field because of the determination of both countries to utilize this vital technology. The Ambassador of India, Shri Deepak Bhojwani, referred to the public programmes promoted in India to propagate IT and Communications, and called for greater business links. He also noted that Government of India offered free scholarships under the ITEC programme in a large number of prestigious Indian institutions in the area of ICT and pointed out that several Indian companies like TCS and Infosys were already operating in Colombia successfully.
The delegation met several Colombian business houses working and interested in software and also made contacts during a reception hosted by the Embassy at its premises.
