II General Assembly: India - Colombia Chamber of Commerce

The second annual General Assembly of the India-Colombia Chamber of Commerce took place on November 23 2010. The board of directors for the year 2011 was elected and Mr. Nicolás Rodríguez was named as the new Executive Director of the Chamber. He has been given the responsibility of the  growth of the Chamber and develop  series of actions in order to increase the bilateral trade between Colombia and India.

Embassy of India participated in BRICs seminar

On November 16 2010 Autonoma University of Colombia hosted a seminar on the BRICs countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China), the new emerging global powers. Ambassador of India Shri Riewad Warjri gave a presentation on India's economic potential and opportunities.

Diwali Mela in Bogotá

On the 6th and 7th of November 2010, the Embassy of India in Colombia and the 'Asociación Amigos de India-Colombia' organized the first ever 'Diwali Mela' in Bogotá. This celebration was hosted on the terrace of the commercial center 'Gran Estación', one of the most visited commercial centers in Bogotá.

ITEC Day

Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day was celebrated on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Embassy of India, Bogota.  About 30 ITEC scholars from Colombia, who during the last eight years attended training programmes in India in the field of Information Technology, Management, Rural Development, Renewable Energy, Remote Sensing, Industrial Training, Women Entrepreneurship, etc. attended the event. Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations in Colombia

Embassy of India celebrated Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti by paying floral tributes to the "Father of the Nation". On this occasion Minister of State for Urban Development  Prof. Saugata Roy addressed the audience on the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi's teachings in the 21st century.

The Mahatma Gandhi Foundation in Medellín also organised  the first Festival of Nonviolence.     Four Forums were held in the city's major libraries and seven educational workshops were conducted in the poorest neeighborhoods.

Hindi Day celebrated in Bogota

On 14 September 2010 Embassy of India, in collaboration with   “Asociación Amigos de India-Colombia” and “Corporación Universitaria UNITEC”, celebrated the “Hindi Day” at the “Auditorio Fundadores” with the participation of students, teachers and general public. A total of 300 people attended the different conferences and activities executed during the day. Dr. Devdutt Patanaik in Colombia

On August 25, 2010  at the Teatro ECCI-ElDorado, Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik "Belief Chief Officer", a famous business consultant and mythologist presented a conference "Subjective world or Mythology of Identity ", where 400 people were present including Indian community in Colombia,members of the Association of Friends of India, special guests, academic community. CEOs Forum: Doing Business with India

On 25 August Embassy of India organised a CEOs Forum in Bogota in collaboration with India-Colombia Chamber of Commerce. The CEOs of around 60 Colombian companies attended the event.  Dr. Devdutt Patanaik, an eminent business consultant, who came  to Colombia at the invitation of the Embassy spoke about the role of Indian belief systems  in shaping business culture in India. PHARMEXIL DELEGATION VISITED GUAYAQUIL

A delegation of 28 Pharmaceutical Companies led by the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXIL) visited Guayaquil. The visit was organized by the Embassy of India in Bogota in collaboration with the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce . On 23 August 2010, the delegation met with a large number of Ecuadorian businessmen interested in Pharmaceutical products from India.  The delegation visit was well publicized and served to promote business links with both countries well into the future.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day 2010 was celebrated at the Embassy with a large number of the Indian community in Bogota, including Colombian spouses of some Indians, witnessing the flag hoisting ceremony.

The function was participated by all Embassy personnel and their family members.  The participants sang the national anthem and listened to the address of the President of India delivered on the eve of Independence Day on projection system.  Thereafter, the invitees enjoyed Indian snacks.
