Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Sawai Mansingh Hospital, Jaipur, India (Tel: 91-141-2563063, 2568661, Fax 91-141-2568602, email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. It was set up in March 1975 as one of the long term human welfare projects. The main objective of the society is physical, economic and social rehabilitation of the physically handicapped . The main emphasis of the Society is on providing: artificial limbs and other rehabilitation aids, appliances etc to amputees; calipers, modified footwear and other aids/appliances to polio and leprosy affected and other disabled persons; hearing aids; and scientific and technical research in developing and improving aids and appliances for handicapped.

Para miembros artificiales, la tecnología de Jaipur Foot ha sido adoptada.  Para conseguir el mejor For artificial limbs, Jaipur Foot technology has been adopted. To get the best alignment, BMVSS has married two different alignment systems i.e. wall frame from Endolite Prosthetics, a British company and Laser alignment system of Otto Bock Prosthetics, a German company. The above knee prosthesis are made with IPOS brims providing ischeal containment sockets – the most advanced socket system in the world. The Jaipur limb is so efficient that after this limb is fitted, a person can walk like a normal person without a stick or support or even run, ride a bicycle and climb a tree. Besides providing artificial limbs, calipers and other help at Jaipur (India), the Society also holds a large number of mobile camps where artificial limbs, calipers etc are manufactured and provided on the spot. Such camps have also been held in several countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Between March 1975 and September 2007, the Society has provided aids and appliances to more than one million beneficiaries.
Lately, BMVSS signed a formal agreement with Indian Spare Research Organisation – premier scientific body of India – to make a foot from Polyurethane´s materials used by them in their rockets and satellites. Several such foot pieces have been manufactured which are undergoing field trials and laboratory tests. The initial reactions of users are quite satisfactory. This has made the new foot lighter and has improved its cosmesis. If successful, this will be the second breakthrough in limb making technology in the world.
In August 2007, Mr D.R. Mehta, Founder and the Chief Patron of the Society along with Dr Mathur, the chief architect of Jaipur Foot and Colombian  partners of the organization - Mahavir K-Mina -   (Mr Francisco Moncaleano based in Miami – Tel. 305-4917175, email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
