Mahatma Gandhi's bust in Medellin

The innauguration of the Mahatma Gandhi's bust at the Museum of Memory at Bicentenario Park will take place on May 21 2013 at 5:00 pm. The cityhall of Medellín and the Embassy ofIndia have installed the bust, with the help of the Honorary Indian Consulate in Medellín.  The bust was donated by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations ICCR and was brought directly from India.

Indian exports to Ecuador

According to the Ecuadorian Central Bank (BCE), during 2009 Indian exports to Ecuador amounted to US$ 89.3 mn. In 2008 figure was US $ 109.5 mn, 2007 US $ 60.6 mn, 2006 US $ 49.7 mn, 2005 US $ 33.4 mn, 2004 US $ 20.9 mn, 2003 US $ 16.4 mn, 2002 US $ 17.7, 2001 US $ 11.9 mn, 2000 US $ 6.1 mn and 1999 US $ 4.7 mn. 
 


Principal exports from India to Ecuador during 2009 were: Iron and Steel, machinery, pharmaceutical products and organic chemicals.

Ecuadorian exports to India: 
The BCE states that in 2009 Ecuador exported US $ 9.6 million to India
Ecuadorian exports to India in 2009 were mainly composed by wood, cocoa and iron and steel.

BILATERAL COOPERATION

In the year 2007, Government of India donated generic medicines to Ecuador worth US$ 200,000 and in 2009 donated US $ 800.000 in generic medicines. During 2007, 24 Ecuadorian Information Technology professionals were trained and another 36 would receive training in January 2008. In 2006 six Ecuadorian nationals received ITEC scholarships that included besides the course fees, air tickets, boarding & lodging and medical expenses.  Similarly, various Ecuadorian companies participated in the first India-Latin America Business Conclave in February 2007 in New Delhi.  During that month, the Ecuadorian Air Force participated in the Aero-Space Show in India.
Notable in the bilateral cooperation between the two countries was the participation of an Ecuadorian diplomat in the Professional Course for Foreign Diplomats at the Foreign Service Institute in New Delhi in 2005.
