Foreign Office Consultations – India and Colombia

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Ambassador Clemencia Forero Ucros, visited India and held Foreign Office Consultations with Secretary(West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Ambassador Nalin Surie, on 2 April, 2009. The vice Minister also called on Minister of State for External Affairs his Excellency Mr. Anand Sharma and discussed bilateral relations.

Colombia and India have a long-standing and strong political relationship.  The Foreign Office Consultations have been held periodically over the past years.  The meeting and discussions between the delegations of both countries covered the entire range of bilateral relationship comprising pop+mok ,kgcnglitical, economic, cultural, technical, academic and other issues.

2009, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between India and Colombia, is being seen as an important year for consolidation of the bilateral relationship in a variety of areas and both delegations reiterated their determination to finalize the text of several pending bilateral agreements; collaborate in multilateral fora; and focus on areas of complementarities to enhance bilateral cooperation.  They also noted the tremendous increase in economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries.
