Hon’ble Minister of State For Mines Shri Dinsha J. Patel visited Colombia from May 1st to May 4th, accompanied by a 7-member delegation, including representatives of National Mineral Development Cooperation, Hindustan Copper Limited., Geological Survey of India & MECL
On 2 May 2011 Hon’ ble MOS met the Colombian Vice Minister of Infrastructure, Mrs. María Constanza García Botero. On 3 May he visited the Colombian Association of National Industries ANDI and met its General Secretary, Mr. Santiago Angel. Thereafter, the delegation went to the Colombian Mining and Geology Institute Ingeominas. In the afternoon, Shri Patel met the Colombian Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Mr. Sergio Díaz-Granados. Hon’ble Minister Patel met the Colombian vice
President, Mr. Angelino Garzón; Minister Patel conveyed India’s deepest condolences to Colombia for the victims of the winter season in Colombia, and Mr. Garzón thanked Shri Patel for the donation by the Government of India to Colombia of an amount of US$1 million as contribution to the relief efforts due to the floods which devastated parts of Colombia during the last few months. In the evening, the Embassy of India hosted a reception in honour to the Minister. Indian community, representatives of Colombian Government, media and the members of India Colombia Chamber of Commerce attended the event.
On May 4th, Minister Patel met the Colombian Minister of Mines and Energy Mr. Carlos Rodado Noriega, and they signed the MoU on Geology and Mineral resources.
In all meetings Minister Patel also conveyed a message of peace from India’s Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and expressed his gratitude for the hospitality of Colombian dignitaries.
