The Hon’ble Minister of Tourism and Culture, Mrs. Ambika Soni, visited Cartagena de las Indias in Colombia on 25-29 November 2007 to participate in the 17th General Assembly of the UNWTO.

The Minister of Defence of Colombia, Mr. Juan Manuel Santos, visited India on 25-28 November 2007 on the invitation of the Minister of Defence of India.

An Indian delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) visited Ecuador and Colombia on 20 - 24 August 2007. The delegation was led by Mr. Sanjay Kirloskar, President of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd, in the able guidance of the Ambassador of India to Colombia, Ecuador and Costa Rica, Mr. Deepak Bhojwani. On 19 July 2007, Ms. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, a Presidential candidate nominated by the ruling party, the Indian National Congress, and the leftwing parties, won the Presidential elections to the post of the 13th President of India.
Ms. Patil, born on 19 December 1934, became the first woman President of India succeeding Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for the highest post of the country when she was sworn in as the President of India on 25 July 2007 by the Chief Justice of India, Mr. K.G. Balakrishnan.

Visit of Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri Anand Sharma, to Colombia, 19-21 June, 2007
Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri Anand Sharma, visited Bogota, the capital of Colombia accompanied by a delegation of MEA officials.
The visit opened with a call on President of Colombia Mr. Alvaro Uribe Velez in the forenoon of 20 June. The President received the Minister very warmly and spoke of the importance of India for Colombia. The Minister conveyed the greetings of President and Prime Minister of India to President Uri [ … ]
Shri Jaipal Reddy, Minister of Urban Development of India visited Colombia on 27-31 May, 2007 to get a first hand experience of the development and planning of cities and particularly the urban transport system.
Shri Reddy also visited the city of Pereira and had extensive briefings on the TransMilenio system in both Bogota and Pereira.
Shri Reddy also had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Colombia Mr. Fernando Araujo and separately with the Minister of Transport of Colombia Mr. Andres Uriel Gallego. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Shri Reddy and the Colombian Minister of Transport for collaboration in the area of urban development.

Minister of State (Women and Child Development) of India visits Colombia.
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Women and Child Development, Mrs. Renuka Chowdhury, visited Colombia on 23-25 May, 2007 to participate in the International Conference on Women and Politics organized by the Colombian Parliament.

Ambassador of India, Mr. Deepak Bhojwani, presented Letters of Credence signed by President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam accrediting him as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Costa Rica to H.E. Mr. Oscar Arias Sanchez, President of Costa Rica on 29th May, 2007.
