Indian business delegation Visits Ecuador and Colombia

An Indian delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) visited Ecuador and Colombia on 20 - 24 August 2007.  The delegation was led by Mr. Sanjay Kirloskar, President of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd, in the able guidance of the Ambassador of India to Colombia, Ecuador and Costa Rica, Mr. Deepak Bhojwani.  The commercial mission had representations from a variety of sectors such as engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, logistics and IT. This visit showed the immense interest of Indian buisnessmen in enhancing bilateral commerce with latin America  
The delegation was in Quito and Guayaquil (Ecuador) on August 20 and 21 respectively. Joint Business Forums were organized in both the places while sector-specific business meetings were also arranged in Quito. The Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ecuadorian Export Promotion Council (CORPEI) supported the events.
On August 22, the Indian business delegation participated in the Joint Business Forum organized by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce in Bogota attended to by a large number of Colombian businessmen. Sector-specific business meetings were arranged in the afternoon where businessmen from both the countries interacted intensively.
On August 23, the Colombian President, H.E. Mr. Alvaro Uribe Vélez, met with the Indian business delegation at the Presidential Palace. The President welcomed the delegation and discussed the various incentives offered by the Colombian government to foreign investment as also the immense. President Uribe urged the Indian businessmen to increase bilateral commerce between the two countries. The delegations's meeting with President Uribe was followed by an interaction of Mr. Sanjay Kirloskar and the Ambassador with the local media.
On August 24, the Indian business delegation participated in a Joint Business Forum in Medellín organized by the Colombian National Association of Industries (ANDI). During the forum, Colombian entrepreneurs expressed their desire in engaging in intensive business relations with India.
